The Postgraduate Program in Food Science and Technology offers Master's and Professional Doctorate courses and aims to make the deepening of knowledge possible and qualify professionals, uniting theoretical knowledge with applications in everyday situations in the working world, increasingly demanding of professionals empowered to make decisions with certainty.
Without doubt, the food industry is one of the most important in the world, and on establishing a line of processing, one must obtain specific orientation concerning the processes and peculiarities of each food.
Currently the activities of food manufacturers are focused on innovation, and they have therefore invested constantly in technological research and development, always aimed at the quality of their products. The food sector has contributed significantly to this development by adding value to products, inserting professionals onto the work market and interacting between the community and the teaching institutions.
Faced with this scenario, research, diffusion and the transfer of technology to the productive food chain have become vital, giving support to the growth of the agro-industrial sector in the Zona da Mata Mineira region of Brazil, where the companies generally have a low level of technological capability.
Thus this Program aims to capacitate professionals already inserted in the food area, and offer professionals ready for the job market in the food sector and capable of intervening favorably in everyday actions, with a view to improving the routines and meeting the region’s increasing need for personnel qualified in this area.
