Innovation and Extension
Innovation
Over the the quadrennium (2021 to 2024), 43 dissertations were defended, 29 (67.4%) of which were carried out in partnership with companies, rural producers, agribusinesses, city governments, educational and research institutions, among others. In addition, 25 dissertations involved the development and characterization of products, which is due to the nature of the Program, which is professional. Since most of the dissertations were developed to meet specific demands of the production sector, there was no direction for patent filing, since the partner companies/institutions were not interested in protecting the intellectual production.
Thus, over the four-year period, a patent deposit was generated “Cereal bars with added probiotics” (registration code BR 10 2024 012393 0).
Extension
The Program has a great economic, social and cultural impact in the region, as it trains qualified personnel with a critical vision, and partners with the productive sector and other institutions. In addition, the professors develop extension actions and promote courses and events that contribute to the transfer of knowledge.
Over the quadrennium, 18 social extension projects were developed that take place on the Institution's premises and in the community, in addition to extension actions developed in dissertation projects and actions in public education and professional training policies, in addition to work on the Rondon Project and in rural industries.
