The objectives of the PPGCTA are:

To deepen the scientific knowledge acquired in other courses;

To develop creative and technical-professional skills and abilities in the area of ​​Food Science and Technology that justify, at the end of the Master's or Professional Doctorate courses, the insertion and greater efficiency/effectiveness of students in the job market;

To qualify high-level professionals to work as independent researchers and professionals with technical-scientific differentials in the world of work, capable of developing the production and service sector based on scientific innovations and current knowledge;

To encourage the development of applied research, stimulating the development of technical and technological solutions, extending their benefits to the community;

To consolidate the Rio Pomba campus of IF Sudeste MG as a reference point in the region in the area of ​​Food Science and Technology; and,

To optimize the use of human and material resources available at the Rio Pomba campus, through the verticalization of teaching.
